Used For:
Cleaning disks are used for cleaning metal, preparing for polishing by smoothing scratches. Also for satin finishing, they leave a nice even finish. The brown coarse mops will remove rust and grime and restore metal back to a matt shine. The red and green wheels are finer and will leave an attractive bright satin finish. They can be used on any metal surface from hard metals such as stainless steel to softer metals like aluminium and brass. The red and green wheels are also suitable for soft precious metals like gold and silver.
The polishing disks and compound is used for polishing all ferrous and non-ferrous metals (and can be used on other materials depending on the compound used – see our compound section).
Use With:
A standard drill or air tool, any rotary tool that will take a 6mm spindle (one which also doesn’t run faster than the 3,000RPM recommended).
How to assemble the drill-mounted metal cleaning kit
You can use one wheel or all six, depending on how thick you want the tool to be. Sandwich the loose wheels between the two washers and thread onto the mandrel.
Tighten the reverse thread nut (the reverse thread on the tool means it won’t come undone as the tool spins on your drill).
Attach the end of the mandrel to your drill. The mandrel fits most basic drills.
How to assemble the drill-mounted metal polishing kit
The Mandrel works with a reverse thread nut, sandwich the wheel between the two washers and mount onto the mandrel.

How to use the drill-mounted metal cleaning kit
Use the drill to rotate the cleaning mops and apply lightly to your surface. A cream cleaner or compound can be used where appropriate.
We recommend using each grade one at a time. A speed lower than 3,000 RPM is recommended. Avoid tackling sharp corners, as they might wear quickly. These mops are designed to break down with use, this is why the correct speed is important. Start with the coarser wheels first working to the finer ones for best results.
ALWAYS test the Metal Cleaning & Polishing on a test surface before use. Abrasive disks can cause damage to soft and pliable surfaces.
How to use the drill-mounted metal polishing kit
Start with the dry sisal (roughest wheel) if you have scratches and marks to remove. Use the rough wheels with the darker compound. We recommend clamping the compound to a G clamp. Spin the wheels it against the cutting compound to load. Compound will melt and coat the wheel. Work over the metal ensuring you keep moving. Move on to the white stitched mop next. At this point you can either use cutting compound or polishing compound. Use the softest mop with lighter colour polishing compound for the final process and see the reflective shine appear in the metal.
ALWAYS test the Metal Cleaning & Polishing kit on a test surface before use. Abrasive mops and compound can cause damage to soft and pliable surfaces, and change the appearance of surfaces and objects.
Cleaning & Polishing Safety
