Abrasive Cleaning Disc Refills for Drills: Coarse (Pack of 20)

A refill pack of 20 coarse abrasive nylon cleaning discs for our Rapid Cleaning Kit and Ultimate Metal Cleaning and Polishing Kit. Coarse (brown) is the heaviest cleaning grade, for rust, scale and grime.

Start here for rust and heavy grime, then move on to medium and fine.

What’s in the pack

• 20 x coarse abrasive cleaning discs (brown)

What you can use it on

• Rust, grime and staining on steel, stainless, aluminium and brass
• Preparing metal for polishing
• Leaving an even satin finish
• Other durable surfaces; test first on softer materials

How to use it

1. Stack between one and six discs between the washers on your mandrel. More discs make a wider, firmer tool.
2. Tighten the reverse-thread nut and fit the mandrel into your drill.
3. Run at under 3,000 RPM and apply light pressure, keeping the discs moving.
4. Work from coarse to medium to fine for the best finish.

Good to know

• Needs a mandrel. One comes with our Rapid Cleaning Kit and Ultimate Metal Cleaning and Polishing Kit, and the discs also fit some other mandrels.
• The discs are designed to wear gradually. Avoid sharp corners, which wear them faster.
• Grades: coarse is brown, medium is red, fine is green.

Do I need a mandrel?

Yes. The discs mount on a mandrel, which comes with our cleaning kits.

Safety

Always follow your drill’s instructions and wear eye protection, gloves and a dust mask. Tie back loose clothing and hair and work in a well-ventilated area. The nylon discs release fine particles as they wear, so vacuum up the dust afterwards.
