Follow the grain
Most sinks and appliances have a brushed finish with a grain running in one direction. The key to an invisible repair is working along that grain, never across it.
Use the Scratch-Away kit by hand, working back and forth along the grain and stepping through each grade until the scratches blend in. For a mirror finish on steel, use a drill-mounted steel polishing kit instead.
Common questions
Will it work on appliance fronts?
Yes, as long as the surface is solid stainless steel. Some fridges and ovens use a coated or printed steel-effect finish, which should not be sanded.
How do I find the grain direction?
Look closely at the surface under a light. You will see fine parallel lines. Work in the same direction as those lines.
