Compare Eight 3-inch TC Grades in a Consistent 3-Ply Format
The Dedeco Sunburst 3″ TC 3-ply radial disc assortment provides one pre-assembled wheel in each of eight grades, covering aggressive cleaning and surface preparation through to fine polishing.
Each wheel combines three matching radial disc layers into an approximately 1/8″ (3.2mm) working face. This provides greater support and surface coverage than a loose disc while retaining the flexibility needed to follow contours, edges and irregular surfaces.
The curved TC bristles—equivalent to Type C terminology—contain aluminium oxide abrasive throughout their moulded polymer construction. This allows the wheels to maintain their cutting action as they wear without requiring a separate polishing compound.
Already know the grade you need?
The individual-grade page offers loose 3″ TC discs for configurable working widths and wider pre-assembled 6-ply wheels.
Why Choose the 3-Ply Assortment?
Compare Eight Grades
Trial every grade from ultra-coarse 36 grit through to ultra-fine 1 micron to identify an effective starting point and finishing sequence.
Consistent 3-Ply Format
Every grade is supplied in the same pre-assembled three-layer format, supporting meaningful comparisons of cutting action and resulting finish.
Controlled Larger-Format Finishing
The 3″ diameter provides increased surface coverage while retaining the conformability needed to follow curved, profiled and irregular components.
3-Ply or 6-Ply Assortment – or Individual Grades?
Choose this 3″ x 3-ply assortment for a relatively narrow, conformable working face that combines controlled contact with enough support for broader general finishing.
Choose the 3″ x 6-ply assortment when you want to compare the same complete grade range using a wider and more supported working face with greater surface contact.
Once you have identified the required grades, choose individual loose discs to configure your own working width or individual 6-ply assemblies for a ready-assembled wider wheel.

Recommended Tapered Mandrels
All four Moleroda tapered mandrels with a 6mm shank can safely be used with these 3″ radial wheel assemblies.
- MM17 and MM32: Moleroda’s primary tapered-mandrel recommendations for 3″ radial wheel assemblies
- PB39: Regular tapered mandrel that is also compatible with the 3″ assemblies
- PB38: Extended tapered mandrel for applications requiring additional reach
- All four options have a 6mm shank for a compatible chuck or collet
- Wind the wheel fully and securely onto the taper before starting the machine
Bench-Lathe Use
The 3″ wheels are suitable for variable-speed polishing lathes such as the Foredom M.BL.
- Use the appropriate tapered spindle or compatible chuck-mounted taper
- Confirm the correct spindle hand and direction of rotation
- Ensure the wheel tightens onto the taper during operation
- Operate within the overlapping speed range of the wheel and machine
- Use suitable guarding and extraction for the application
Operating & Safety Guidance
- Recommended operating range: 3,000–18,000 RPM.
- Woodworking reference speed: Approximately 5,000 RPM.
- Maximum wheel speed: 25,000 RPM.
- Never exceed the lowest maximum speed specified for the wheel, mandrel or machine.
- Confirm that the wheel is fully wound onto the taper and runs true before use
- Install the wheel so the curved bristles follow the correct direction of rotation
- Start at a lower speed and increase only where greater cutting action is required
- Use the bristle tips with light pressure rather than forcing the wheel into the workpiece
- Keep the wheel moving to control localised heat and uneven wear
- Inspect the wheel and mounting system before every use
- Use suitable machine guarding, extraction and appropriate personal protective equipment
