Pre-Assembled TC 6-Ply Radial Wheels
Dedeco Sunburst TC radial disc assemblies provide a ready-to-use 3″ x 6-ply format for cleaning, deburring, surface preparation and polishing. Select an individual grade for a particular process, to replace an existing wheel or to build a controlled multi-stage finishing sequence.
Each wheel combines six matching radial disc layers within a central hub, creating a stable 1/4″ (6.35mm) working face for broader surfaces and larger components. The flexible, curved TC bristles follow contours and irregular profiles, while aluminium oxide abrasive distributed throughout the moulded bristles maintains the cutting and finishing action as they wear.
Eight colour-coded grades are available, ranging from aggressive 36 grit surface correction through to fine 1 micron polishing. The wheels can be used independently or progressively according to the material, starting condition and finish required.
A mounting mandrel is not included. MM17 and MM32 are Moleroda’s primary tapered-mandrel recommendations for this 3″ format, while PB39 and PB38 are also compatible. If you need the complete grade range, choose the corresponding 3″ x 6-ply eight-wheel assortment.
Why Choose Pre-Assembled 6-Ply Wheels?
Ready-Assembled Format
Each wheel is supplied as a complete six-layer assembly, eliminating the need to select, align and secure multiple loose discs.
Stable Surface Contact
The 1/4″ working face provides stable support and efficient coverage across broader surfaces, larger components and repeated finishing operations.
Individual Grade Selection
Purchase the grade required for a specific process, replace frequently used wheels or replenish individual grades from an assortment.
Compare Related 3″ Radial Disc Formats
These pre-assembled 6-ply wheels provide a consistent 1/4″ working face with stable support and efficient coverage.
Choose loose 3″ TC radial discs when you want to configure the working width by changing the number of matching disc layers used.
Choose the 3″ x 3-ply assortment when a narrower 1/8″ working face and more controlled contact around smaller features are preferred.
Typical Applications
- Removing rust, oxidation, tarnish and surface contamination
- Cleaning suitable coatings, adhesive residue and discolouration
- Deburring and blending edges, profiles and machined features
- Refining scratches, machining marks and surface transitions
- Cleaning and blending fabricated, cast and machined components
- Preparing surfaces for subsequent finishing operations
- Finishing broader surfaces and larger components
- Generating or refining decorative grain and satin finishes
- Fine finishing, pre-polishing and high-lustre polishing
- Maintaining a repeatable grade within an established production process
Suitable Materials
These wheels are suitable for finishing aluminium, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel, precious metals and other appropriate metals. They may also be used for selected wood, acrylic, resin and plastic applications.
Always test the selected grade on an inconspicuous area first, particularly when working on softer, coated or heat-sensitive materials.
Grades & Selection
Each product variation contains one pre-assembled 6-ply wheel in the selected grade.

Recommended Tapered Mandrels
All four Moleroda tapered mandrels with a 6mm shank can safely be used with these 3″ radial wheel assemblies.
- MM17 and MM32: Moleroda’s primary tapered-mandrel recommendations for 3″ radial wheel assemblies
- PB39 and PB38: Also compatible where their respective proportions better suit the machine or working access
- All four options have a 6mm shank for a compatible chuck or collet
- Wind the wheel fully and securely onto the taper before starting the machine
Bench-Lathe Use
The wheels are suitable for variable-speed polishing lathes such as the Foredom M.BL. The M.BL operates from 500–7,000 RPM, so use these wheels within the overlapping 3,000–7,000 RPM range.
- Use an appropriate tapered spindle or compatible chuck-mounted taper
- Confirm the correct spindle hand and direction of rotation
- Ensure the wheel tightens onto the taper during operation
- Operate within the overlapping speed range of the wheel and machine
- Use suitable guarding and extraction for the application
Operating & Safety Guidance
- Recommended operating range: 3,000–18,000 RPM
- Woodworking reference speed: Approximately 5,000 RPM
- Maximum wheel speed: 25,000 RPM
- Never exceed the lowest maximum speed specified for the wheel, mandrel, spindle or machine
- Confirm that the wheel is fully wound onto the taper and runs true before use
- Install the wheel so the curved bristles follow the correct direction of rotation
- Start at a lower speed and increase only where greater cutting action is required
- Use the bristle tips with light pressure rather than forcing the wheel into the workpiece
- Keep the wheel moving to control localised heat and uneven wear
- Inspect the wheel and mounting system before every use
- Use suitable machine guarding, extraction and appropriate personal protective equipment
