Reusable Quick-Zip File Carriers for Detailed Abrasive Finishing
Quick-Zip abrasive file carriers provide a narrow, reusable base for mounting Quick-Zip self-adhesive abrasive strips. Their exceptionally thin working profiles make them particularly useful for deburring, smoothing and refining areas that are difficult to reach with conventional files or larger abrasive tools.
Choose from Flat, Flexible and Tapered carrier profiles according to the shape of the workpiece and the level of support or conformity required. Abrasive strips can be fitted to one face for selective contact, to both faces for two-sided filing, or wrapped over the end to create abrasive contact at the carrier tip.
This product contains the reusable file carrier only.
Quick-Zip abrasive strips are sold separately.
Why Choose a Quick-Zip File Carrier?
Reach Restricted Features
The thin carrier profiles can enter narrow ribs, crevices, slots and other confined areas that conventional files and larger abrasive tools cannot easily reach.
Choose the Required Carrier Profile
Select from Flat, Flexible and Tapered carriers to provide the level of support, flexibility and access required for the feature being finished.
Reuse the Carrier and Replace the Abrasive
Continue using the same carrier while replacing worn strips or fitting a different abrasive grain or grit as the finishing process progresses.
Configure the Abrasive Contact
Fit strips to one or both carrier faces, or wrap one strip over the carrier tip to provide abrasive contact inside fine grooves, recesses and confined details.
Use by Hand or with a Reciprocating Tool
Fit the 3mm shank into a compatible hand file holder or suitable reciprocating filing tool for controlled manual or powered filing.
Choose Your Quick-Zip Carrier
All three Quick-Zip carriers have the same 140mm overall length, 3mm shank and 60mm x 5mm working surface. The key difference is the depth profile of the working section, which controls the level of support, flexibility and access provided by each carrier.
Flat
Working Depth
1.06 mm
Functional Difference
A consistent working depth provides even support across the abrasive surface.
Best for
Controlled filing of flat faces, straight edges, slots, ribs and accessible narrow surfaces.
Flexible
Working Depth
1.2–0.25 mm
Functional Difference
The working section reduces to an exceptionally fine depth, allowing greater flexibility towards the tip.
Best for
Following contours, applying controlled contact and reaching especially fine or restricted features.
Tapered
Working Depth
1.5–0.4 mm
Functional Difference
The reducing depth combines greater support towards the base with a finer working end.
Best for
Progressively narrowing openings, crevices, detailed profiles and areas requiring both support and fine access.
Selection Tip
- Choose Flat for consistent support across the working section.
- Choose Flexible where greater conformity or a very fine flexible tip is required.
- Choose Tapered where a supported carrier must progressively reduce in depth to enter a confined feature.
Precision Filing and Deburring Applications
Quick-Zip carrier selection is primarily determined by the shape, accessibility and support requirements of the feature being finished. The Flat, Flexible and Tapered profiles allow the abrasive working surface to reach and conform to different workpiece geometries.
Typical Features and Geometries
- Flat faces, straight edges and shoulders
- Ribs, slots and narrow channels
- Gentle contours requiring a more flexible carrier
- Progressively narrowing openings and crevices
- Fine grooves, recesses and confined details
- Mould, die and toolroom features
- Localised fitting, maintenance and precision repair work
Use Quick-Zip File Carriers By Hand or With a Reciprocating Tool
Quick-Zip carriers provide reusable support for separately available self-adhesive abrasive strips. Select the carrier profile according to the required support, flexibility and access, then secure the 3mm shank in a compatible hand file holder or suitable reciprocating filing tool.
Fit Compatible Quick-Zip Strips
Position strips centrally on one or both carrier faces, or centre one strip over the carrier tip according to where abrasive contact is required. Refer to the strip page for complete fitting, abrasive-grain and grit guidance.
Use with a Hand File Holder
Secure the 3mm shank in a compatible precision file holder for controlled manual filing, deburring and detailed finishing.
Use with a Reciprocating Filing Tool
For powered filing, use only a suitable reciprocating filing tool that accepts and securely retains the 3mm shank.
Do not use Quick-Zip file carriers in a rotary motion.
Use controlled filing strokes appropriate to the selected carrier profile, abrasive grain, grit and workpiece.
