Specialist UK-Manufactured RODA Felt Profiles
RODA Mounted Shaped Felts provide specialist contact profiles for polishing and lapping component features that are difficult to follow with conventional cylindrical bobs, pointed cones or rounded bullnose tools.
The curated standard range contains 28 defined combinations across seven RODA shape-code families. Each variation is permanently mounted on either a 3mm or 6mm metal shank and supplied as a pack of 10 matching tools. No separate mandrel is required.
The listed variations represent practical online purchasing options rather than the full extent of Moleroda’s manufacturing capability. Where an established process requires a different profile, dimension, shank arrangement or felt specification, a bespoke option can be explored separately.
These mounted felts are non-abrasive compound carriers. They are intended exclusively for use with a compatible polishing, cutting or lapping compound. The compound provides the abrasive action, while the selected felt shape controls access, contact area and support.

The initial M identifies this mounted shaped felt range. The following letter identifies the RODA shape family. MR and MS are separate Tree profiles with different proportions, so retain their code letters when choosing or reordering.

The standard range is intentionally curated. Where several profiles can reach the same feature, choose the option that provides useful contact without obscuring, catching or rounding an edge that must remain defined.
3mm and 6mm Shank Compatibility
Every tool is permanently mounted on the shank stated for its exact variation. No separate mandrel is required.
- 3mm shanks: Use with compatible micromotors, rotary tools, pendant-motor handpieces or pencil grinders fitted with a matching 3mm collet or chuck
- 6mm shanks: Use with compatible drills, die grinders, straight grinders or larger rotary equipment fitted with a matching 6mm holder
- Machine type alone does not guarantee compatibility; check the actual chuck or collet capacity before ordering
- A fixed 2.35mm, 3mm or 6mm collet accepts only the corresponding shank diameter
- Secure the metal shank correctly and never clamp the felt body

Use with Polishing, Cutting and Lapping Compounds
A compatible compound is required.
These mounted felts contain no abrasive grain and are not designed to cut or polish on their own.
The selected compound determines the abrasive action and achievable finish. The felt supports and carries that compound while its specialist shape controls how it is presented to the component.
- Select the compound according to the workpiece material, starting condition and required finish
- Prepare the surface adequately before attempting the final polishing stage
- Apply a controlled amount of compound and replenish it as required
- Use light pressure and keep the felt moving to reduce unnecessary heat build-up
- Use a separate felt for each compound type or abrasive grade to prevent cross-contamination
- Test the complete process on a representative area before treating the finished component

Operating Guidance
- Inspect the felt and shank before use. Do not use a tool that is damaged, loose or running out of true.
- Fit the stated 3mm or 6mm shank securely in a matching chuck or collet.
- Start at a low speed and establish a safe working speed for the selected profile, machine, compound and workpiece.
- Apply light, controlled pressure and keep the felt moving. Excessive pressure can generate heat, distort the profile and shorten tool life.
- Use a separate felt for each compound type or abrasive grade.
- Wear suitable eye protection and use guarding, extraction and other controls appropriate to the machine, compound and workpiece material.
