Three Shapes from the UK-Manufactured RODA Felt Range
RODA Mounted Felt Bobs, Cones & Bullnose combine three complementary contact shapes in one mounted polishing range. The wool-felt tools are manufactured and finished by Moleroda in the UK, then fixed to metal shanks for direct fitting to compatible rotary equipment without a separate mandrel.
Direct UK manufacture allows Moleroda to offer a broad standard matrix of shapes, felt sizes and shank diameters while also considering bespoke dimensions, profiles, shanks and felt densities for established finishing processes.
These mounted felts are non-abrasive compound carriers. They are intended exclusively for use with a compatible polishing, cutting or lapping compound and are not designed to create a cutting or polishing action on their own. The compound provides the abrasive action, while the felt shape and density control contact, access and support.

Choose the Correct Shank Diameter
- 2.35mm (3/32″): For compatible micromotor, pendant motor and flexible-shaft handpieces fitted with a matching 2.35mm or 3/32″ collet.
- 3mm: For compatible micromotors, rotary tools and pencil grinders fitted with a matching 3mm collet or chuck.
- 6mm: For compatible drills, die grinders, straight grinders and other larger rotary equipment fitted with a matching 6mm chuck or collet.
Machine type alone does not guarantee fit. Check the actual chuck or collet capacity before ordering, and never force a shank into an incorrectly sized holder.
Use with Polishing, Cutting and Lapping Compounds
A compatible compound is required.
These mounted felts contain no abrasive grain and are designed to carry and control a separately selected polishing, cutting or lapping compound.
The felt shape determines how the tool contacts the component, while the compound provides the abrasive action. Depending on the compound selected, the mounted felt can support cutting and pre-polishing, surface refinement, final polishing or precision lapping. This does not mean that every compound is suitable for every material: select the compound according to the workpiece, starting condition and finish required.
Apply a controlled amount of compound, use light pressure and keep the felt moving to limit unnecessary heat build-up. Use a separate felt for each compound type or grade to prevent coarser abrasive being transferred into a finer finishing stage.
Medium-Density RODA Felt and Bespoke UK Manufacture
The standard purchasable variations use medium-density wool felt, providing a general-purpose balance of conformity, support and shape retention for compound-assisted polishing and lapping.
Because RODA Felt tools are manufactured by Moleroda in the UK, alternative dimensions, profiles, shank arrangements and soft, hard or hardened felt densities can be considered. Operating Guidance
- Inspect the felt and shank before use. Do not use a tool that is damaged, loose or running out of true.
- Secure the correct shank diameter in a compatible chuck or collet; do not clamp the felt body.
- Use a speed validated for the selected felt size, shape, machine, holding system, compound and workpiece. Start at a low speed and increase only where the process has been proven safe.
- Apply light, controlled pressure and keep the felt moving. Excessive pressure can generate heat, distort the contact and shorten tool life.
- Wear suitable eye protection and use guarding, extraction and other controls appropriate to the machine, compound and workpiece material.
