Use the brown compound first to smooth and flatten the metal. Keep going until scratches are smoothed. If deep scratches are present use wet and dry to flatten the metal before polishing. Only then move on to the rouge compound to bring up to a high shine. Keep moving, avoid dwelling. Dwelling causes heat build up and \u2018flats\u2019. Always use a new felt for each type of compound. Mixing won\u2019t give good results.
